The Consortium is administered by a governing body comprised of the chief medical officers of Ireland and Northern Ireland, and the director of the National Cancer Institute:
Dr. Michael McBride

Dr. McBride assumed his post as Chief Medical Officer of Northern Ireland in September 2006. He was a Consultant in the Health Service since 1994 when he was appointed Consultant Physician in HIV medicine at the Royal Hospitals. He has more than 10 years health service management experience and a longstanding interest in continuing medical education. He was Postgraduate Clinical Tutor in the Royal Hospitals from 1996 to 2000 and was named Director of Education in the Royal Hospitals in 2000.
As Medical Director at the Royal Hospitals, Dr. McBride contributed to strategic change at the trust, regional and national levels. As the Trust lead for clinical and social care governance, he had responsibilities for all aspects of clinical quality and patient safety.
Dr. Tony Holohan

Dr. Tony Holohan was appointed as Chief Medical Officer of the Department of Health and Children of Ireland in December 2008. He is chief advisor to the Minister for Health and Children on medical evidence and analysis, as well as public health matters. Previously, Dr. Holohan served as Deputy Chief Medical Officer at the Department of Health and Children.
A medical graduate of University College Dublin, Dr. Holohan has worked extensively throughout his career on policy development in areas such as cancer control, prevention, primary care, health information, and health technology assessment.
Dr. John E. Niederhuber

Dr. John Niederhuber, Director of the National Cancer Institute, joins the Chief Medical Officers of Ireland and Northern Ireland as a member of the Consortium's Board of Directors. Dr Niederhuber replaced Dr. Andrew von Eschenbach, who served on the Consortium Board since its beginning in 1999 and resigned his position as Director of the NCI effective 10 June 2006.
A distinguished surgeon and researcher with strong ties over many years to the National Cancer Institute as an outside advisor and grant reviewer, Dr. Niederhuber joined the NIH in September 2005 as NCI's Deputy Director for Translational and Clinical Sciences. Immediately before his recruitment to NCI, he chaired the National Cancer Advisory Board. His extensive academic and research career in the cancer field included positions at the University of Michigan, Johns Hopkins University, and Stanford University before his most recent position at the University of Wisconsin, where he was Director of the University's Comprehensive Cancer Center.
