Cancer 2009

Cancer 2009, the 7th International Cancer Conference, will be held at the Institute of Molecular Medicine at St. James’s Hospital in Dublin, 13-15 May 2009. For additional conference information, visit the Consortium Web site.

In conjunction with Cancer 2009, St. James’s Hospital will also host the launch of an international art exchange exhibit, beginning 12 May 2009. This exhibit represents a collaborative effort between the Tracy’s Kids Pediatric Art Therapy Program, the National Cancer Institute (NCI), and the Middle East Cancer Consortium (MECC). Originally hosted earlier this year by the Office of International Affairs at NCI, the exhibit highlights artwork by pediatric cancer patients and their family members at cancer centers in the U.S., Jordan, Israel, Egypt, and Turkey. Artwork will be on display at St. James’s Hospital through July 2009. For additional information, contact Professor Mark Lawler, at mplawler@tcd.ie.

2009 NCI Summer Curriculum in Cancer Prevention

Twenty-five island of Ireland public health and cancer professionals are expected to participate in the NCI Summer Curriculum in Cancer Prevention. This lecture series, which begins 6 July 2009 in Bethesda, is comprised of two courses: the Principles and Practice of Cancer Prevention and Control course and the Molecular Prevention course. All Ireland Cooperative Oncology Research Group Update

All Ireland Cooperative Oncology Research Group (ICORG), a collaborative clinical trials group under the auspices of the Consortium, recently underwent a review conducted by an international panel in February 2009. The international panel’s findings will be made available later this year.
