Consortium Programs

In order to fulfill its mandate of increasing scientific and public health collaborations between Ireland and Northern Ireland and reduce the burden due to cancer, the All-Ireland NCI Cancer Consortium focuses on several key areas of scientific inquiry, including six working groups and activities in cancer health economics, biobanking, and palliative care
  • Biobanking - supports efforts to establish and expand cancer biobanking infrastructure on the island of Ireland.
  • Cancer Registries/Epidemiology - supports consolidation of cancer data among Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the international community.
  • Clinical Trials - strengthens the capacity for cancer centers in Ireland and Northern Ireland to conduct clinical trials research.
  • Health Economics & Cancer Policy Analysis - facilitates information-sharing and capacity building in health economics and health policy research to address resource allocation and policy analysis on the island of Ireland.
  • Information Technology - builds cancer informatics structure to support coordinated clinical trials and imaging throughout the island of Ireland.
  • Nursing - promotes oncology nursing training throughout the island of Ireland.
  • Prevention - facilitates prevention-related research, early detection, and educational opportunities.
  • Scholar Exchange & Training - fosters educational programs and opportunities in the area of cancer for oncologists, scientists, nurses, and other professionals from the three jurisdictions.
  • Palliative Care - improves the experience of supportive, palliative, and end-of-life care on the island of Ireland.
