Information Technology Sharing

The Information Technology Working Group (IT WG) was established by the Board of Directors to address implementation of programs and systems to strengthen the cancer informatics infrastructure on the island of Ireland. The IT WG supports the building of new technological capabilities that impact how clinical research is conducted, how researchers are trained, how data is managed, and how care is delivered.

TELESYNERGY®, developed by the National Institutes of Health's Center for Information Technology, is a multimedia medical imaging system that augments the Consortium partners' abilities to collaborate on a variety of projects/activities. The IT WG has been responsible for coordinating the implementation of TELESYNERGY® on the island of Ireland since 2003.

Professor Donal Hollywood, Professor of Clinical Oncology and Head of the Academic Unit of Clinical and Molecular Oncology (Trinity College Dublin), is the chair of the IT WG.

IT WG Objectives
  • To address the implementation of programs/systems to strengthen the cancer informatics infrastructure on the island of Ireland.
  • To coordinate the implementation of TELESYNERGY® throughout the island.
